UOB Visa Signature Card

UOB Visa Signature Card

Earn 4 miles per dollar on Overseas, Petrol, and Contactless Transactions (including SimplyGo)

UOB Visa Signature Card Overview:

The UOB Visa Signature Card is ideal for those who regularly spend on big-ticket items, offering 4 miles per dollar on contactless, petrol, and overseas (FCY) transactions when you hit a S$1,000 minimum spend per statement month.

Eligibility & Fees:

  • Minimum Age: 21 years old
  • Minimum Annual Income: S$50,000 (locals/PRs) ; S$40,000 (Foreigners)
  • Annual Fee: S$218, first year waived

Key Benefits:

  • Earn 4 miles per dollar (10x UNI$ per S$5) on Overseas Spend with a minimum spend of S$1,000 in FCY per statement month
  • Earn 4 miles per dollar (10x UNI$ per S$5) on Petrol Spend and Contactless Transactions (including SimplyGo) with a minimum spend of S$1,000 in SGD per statement month
  • Spending Cap:
    • Until 1 August 2025 Statement:
      • Combined cap of S$2,000 per statement month
    • From 1 September 2025 Statement – Split into 2 categories:
      • Category 1 (Overseas Spends including Online): S$1,200 (UNI$2,400) per statement month

      • Category 2 (Petrol and Contactless Spends including SimplyGo): S$1,200 (UNI$2,400) per statement month

Note: Categories 1 and 2’s cap are separate — you can meet just one or both.

Best Used on Large Purchases (SGD Contactless and FCY Overseas)
  • This is ideal for big-ticket contactless purchases spent in SGD, especially those between S$1,000 and $2,000 (S$1,200 effective 1 September 2025 statement) made via contactless payment. When this threshold is met within a statement month, you’ll earn 10 UNI$ per S$5 spent, effectively 4 miles per dollar. This makes it perfect for major one-off expenses like paying a wedding banquet, buying a new phone, TV, or furniture. Note that this has a shared spend cap with Petrol spends.
  • You’ll also earn 4 miles per dollar on large overseas transactions made in foreign currency, provided the same minimum monthly spend is met. This makes it a great option when traveling or making big-ticket overseas purchases including online, in-app, or contactless FCY spends, such as designer goods or electronics abroad.

Best for Petrol Spends
  • You can also earn 4 miles per dollar on petrol spends as long as it’s under MCCs 5541 and 5542 (excluding SPC and Shell Service Stations). Note that this has a shared minimum spend and cap with SGD contactless spends.

Buffs:
  • From 1 July 2025, you can earn 4 miles per dollar on SimplyGo Transactions (Visa payWave or mobile payment). Miles will be awarded in blocks of S$5. But don’t worry if your daily SimplyGo transactions are below S$5. This is because UOB will total all SimplyGo transactions within a calendar month for miles calculation. Miles will be awarded around the 7th calendar day of the following month.
    • Sample Illustration:
      • Let’s say you spend S$3.20 per day for 30 days on bus/MRT rides via SimplyGo, that’s S$96 total spend. Since you’ll only earn in blocks of S$5, only S$95 will be earning miles. So that will be S$95 x 4 miles per dollar = 380 miles earned for the calendar month.
Nerfs:
  • Previously, both categories shared a combined cap of UNI$4,000 per statement period. But from 1 September 2025, the bonus UNI$ cap will be split across two categories:
    • Category 1 – Overseas Transactions (including Online): capped at S$1,200 (UNI$2,400)
    • Category 2 – Petrol & Contactless: capped at S$1,200 (UNI$2,400)
  • Important: The revised caps apply based on your card statement date, not the actual transaction date. For example:
    • If your statement is dated 1 August 2025, the old combined cap still applies.
    • If your statement is dated 1 September 2025, the new separate caps take effect.

Advantages:
  • UNI$ can be pooled with eligible UOB cards
Disadvantages:
  • Quite high minimum spend requirement

  • When are UNI$ credited to my account
    • The base points will be credited when the transaction posts, while the bonus points will be credited in the following statement period
  • Do my points pool
    • yes, it pools across UOB cards
  • When will the UNI$ expire
    • UNI$ are valid for 2 years, starting from the end of the quarter in which they were earned.

Final Thoughts:

The UOB Visa Signature Card is a strong option for savvy spenders who frequently make large purchases or travel overseas. While the S$1,000 minimum monthly spend may be steep for some, those who can consistently hit this threshold will find great value especially for big-ticket spenders who value miles.

    Atome

    • Atome is a “buy now, pay later” (BNPL) platform. It lets shoppers split their purchases into three equal, interest-free payments—making it easier to manage cash flow.

    • Accepted at over 10,000 online and in-store merchants in Singapore

    • Atome usually codes as MCC 5999 (Misc. & Specialty Retail). Some banks allow points for this, others don’t.

    • Best Practice: Manual Payment –manually trigger your 2nd and 3rd payments via the app. Auto-payments might be flagged as recurring bills and won’t earn rewards on credit cards. You would want to choose to “Pay in 3” as longer installment plans would incur extra charges. There are often vouchers on the app that you can use to offset the cost further.

    • Get Dyson Airstrait™ straightener (worth S$799) or 25,000 HeyMax Miles (worth S$450) or S$400 Cash via PayNow when you spend S$500 by the end of the following calendar month + provide marketing consent
    • Valid from from 16 January – 01 February 2026
    • Available for New HSBC Cardholders
      • New cardholder is defined as customers with no existing principal HSBC credit card and who haven’t canceled one in the past 12 months.

    For Existing HSBC Cardholders:

    • Get S$50 cashback when you spend S$500 by the end of the following month
    • Valid until 01 February 2026
    • Available for Existing HSBC Cardholders
      • Existing Cardholder is defined as customers whose most recent principal HSBC Credit Card was issued more than 12 months ago and who haven’t canceled one in the past 12 months.
      • Eg. You already hold an HSBC TravelOne Card and you apply for HSBC Live+ Card, you are already an existing cardholder.

    HSBC Revolution Card

    • Earn 4 miles per dollar on selected online and contactless spend categories, capped at S$1,500 per calendar month (until 28 February 2026)
    • The categories include:
      • Department Stores and Retail Stores
      • Dining (excluding hotel dining)
      • Transportation & Membership Clubs
      • Travel-Related
    • You will only earn 0.4 miles per dollar on other categories outside of these online categories and if you spend above $1,000 per calendar month.
    • The rewards points conversion fee is waived indefinitely— transferring your points is completely free!
    • Note: Contactless payment, upsized cap of S$1,500, and travel-related category will only be available until 28 February 2026.

    Special hack:

Even though you may not be able to use the card for flights or hotel bookings directly, you can actually use atome to make your bookings via agoda or trip.com and pay via atome platform. Atome’s MCC is 5999 which falls under 4 mile per dollar category. In addition, spreading your travel spending across 3 months instalments can help you keep within the S$1,000 spending cap. However, you will not be able to earn extra cashback on platforms like Shopback or Azgo.

If you are new to Atome, you can sign up here to receive points that is equivalent to S$10 off your first transaction.
