New to miles? You have probably seen HeyMax mentioned in Telegram chats, on finance blogs, or by a friend who says it gives “free flights.” This guide explains what HeyMax is, in plain terms, and whether it is worth your time.
What HeyMax Is
HeyMax is a Singapore rewards app. You use it to earn a points currency called Max Miles.
The simplest way to understand it is that it is the miles version of ShopBack. ShopBack gives you cashback when you shop through its app first; HeyMax works the same way, except you earn miles instead of cashback. You click through HeyMax to a shop, buy as normal, and collect Max Miles. Later, you turn those miles into flights.
It is the same idea you already know, with a different reward.
Double-Dipping: The Key Concept
When you pay with a credit card, your card already earns its usual rewards (cashback or miles). That does not change. Double-dipping means HeyMax lets you earn Max Miles on top of those card rewards, so the same purchase earns two sets of rewards.
For example, if you buy something on Shopee (which is what I use HeyMax for), your credit card earns its usual rewards, and you also earn Max Miles because you copy and paste the Shopee link into HeyMax app. Your checkout price stays exactly the same. HeyMax is paid by the merchant, not by you. You will, however, need a HeyMax account. More on that in a while.
Step 1: Search for Shopee In Your HeyMax Portal
Step 2: Paste Shopee Link into HeyMax
Step 3: You will be directed to Shopee and once you have paid for your item, HeyMax registers your purchase and rewards you with Max Miles.
How to Earn Max Miles
There are a few main ways to earn Max Miles. The most common is to shop through HeyMax: open the app, click through to partner brands such as Shopee, Amazon, Apple and Agoda, then buy as normal. You can also buy vouchers for shops, restaurants and cafés inside the app, and earn on dining bookings and even on bus and MRT rides in Singapore.
One note: miles do not always appear instantly. Most track within a few days, though some take longer, so do not worry if you do not see them right away.
Which Cards Should You Use?
When you shop through the HeyMax portal, the Max Miles come from the merchant, so it does not matter which card you pay with for that portion. But remember the double-dip: the other half is your credit card’s own rewards, so you still want to pay with a card that earns well, which usually means your best miles or cashback card for that purchase. So for example, if i’m buying from Shopee, I will look to use the cards mentioned in Best Cards For Online Shopping.
There is also one card that earns Max Miles directly:
1 mile per dollar on almost everything, up to S$1,000 per month.
How to claim (tap to expand)
- Download the app from the App Store or Google Play
- Copy the referral code above and enter into the app when prompted
- Sign up with your details
The Chocolate Finance Visa is the only card that earns Max Miles directly on almost all your spend. You will need to link them together. I detailed the steps in my step by step guide if you are interested.
The Indirect Route: DBS yuu Card
This option is soon opening up in June 2026. The DBS yuu card does not earn Max Miles directly. Instead, it earns yuu Points if you spend at yuu merchants such as Cold Storage, Giant, SimplyGo, Chagee, Guardian, 7-Eleven and Foodpanda.
The trick is that we can soon convert yuu Points into Max Miles, so the chain is: spend on DBS yuu, earn yuu Points, then convert them to Max Miles. At yuu merchants, this indirect route produces one of the best Max Miles earn rates for everyday grocery and essentials spending.
Two things to keep in mind. It only pays off if you spend at yuu merchants, as the card earns very little elsewhere, so do not use it for general spend. It also takes an extra step, since you convert the points yourself, so it suits people who do not mind a little admin for more miles.
Requirements (tap to expand)
- You qualify if: you have no DBS/POSB credit card right now, AND haven't cancelled any DBS/POSB credit card in the last 12 months
- Enter promo code SINGSAVER during application
- Spend min. S$500 within 30 days of card approval
- SingSaver will email you a Rewards Redemption Form — check inbox (and spam folder) after applying. Fill it in within 14 days to claim your gift, or you'll lose it.
How to Use Max Miles
There are two main ways to use Max Miles. The first, and best for most people, is FlyAnywhere: you redeem Max Miles against any flight, on any airline, with no blackout dates. You book the flight yourself (airline site, Trip.com, anywhere), pay cash, then submit the receipt, and HeyMax reimburses you by deducting Max Miles. The rate is 1.8 cents per mile.
The second is to transfer to partners: convert Max Miles 1:1 into more than 30 airline and hotel programmes, including EVA Air, Qatar Airways, Japan Airlines and World of Hyatt. This is the route for premium redemptions, such as business class.
Max Miles do not expire as long as your account stays active.
Is It Worth It?
For most people in Singapore who shop online and like the idea of free flights, yes. It is free to use, and you keep your existing card rewards. The only effort is remembering to start at HeyMax before you shop.
It will not make you rich, but a few hundred Max Miles here and there add up, enough for a Scoot ticket sooner than you might expect.
