Great Deal: Get S$500 Cashback on Standard Chartered Simply Cash and Smart Credit Card

From 7 to 17 October 2024, you can get S$500 cashback when you apply for Standard Chartered Simply Cash or Smart Credit Card and spend S$800 within 30 days of card approval.

Standard Chartered Simply Cash might be better to maximise the cashback + sign up rewards

I personally love my Standard Chartered Smart Credit Card as my go-to card for bus/mrt rides. I shared about it in a tiktok video here and how to maximise the card. If you are applying for this card using this promotion, it might be difficult to hit S$800 with the specific merchants that give you 6% cashback.

If you want to maximise your cashback while getting the S$500 cashback, it would make sense to go for the Standard Chartered Simply Cash as it gives 1.5% cashback on almost everything. It’s a very simple card.

If you are considering a few upcoming large purchases like home furniture for your new home, or tech upgrade (I also just got amazon vouchers of S$150 for a S$12 credit with code BIGDEAL24 for a huge purchase that i’m about to make. lol. That’s an 8% off on top of your credit card rewards. Remember to put promo code at checkout cos I forgot to put in and had to repurchase) or some airtickets (I just got my airtickets around 11% shaved off the final price with the 10.10 sale on top of credit card rewards.), then this could be a lifehack way to get a super discount off your purchase. If you don’t have much spending, you could stock up on some grocery store vouchers to clock the S$800 spending.

Standard Chartered Simply Cash Card

  • Earn a flat 1.5% cashback rate, with no minimum spend requirement, and no cashback cap. This card can be used in basically anything and everything spending! This can be an ultimate card to use when paying for wedding banquet venues!

 

Annual Fee
  • S$196.20 (including 9% GST), waived for the first two years

When is Cashback Credited

    Standard Chartered Smart Card

    • Earn 10% cashback or 9.28 miles per dollar for spends above S$1,500 for bonus categories
    • Earn 8% cashback or 7.42 miles per dollar on spends of at least S$800 to S$1,500 for bonus categories
    • Earn 4% cashback or 3.71 miles per dollar on spends below S$800 for bonus categories (until 31 March 2025)
    • 0.5% cashback in the form of reward points for all base spends
    • This has no bonus cap
    • Best for dining, streaming, and transport categories
     
    Annual Fee
    • Used to be waived for life, but beginning 6 December 2025, an annual fee of S$99.19 will be applied to all StanChart Smart Cardholders as of 6 December 2024.
     
    Income Requirement
    • S$30,000 (locals/PRs); S$60,000 (foreigners)
     
    Points Expiry
    • The points expire 3 years from your card opening date, which is very strange. Your points earned the day before your 3rd year card anniversary date could just expire the next day. You could set a redemption reminder date 3 years from your card opening date. Alternatively, you could keep the points in your account low by doing regular redemption. This way, even if you forget, all is not lost.
