How to Best Optimise it:
Best Used on Large Purchases (SGD Contactless and FCY Overseas)
- This is ideal for big-ticket contactless purchases spent in SGD, especially those between S$1,000 and $2,000 (S$1,200 effective 1 September 2025 statement) made via contactless payment. When this threshold is met within a statement month, youβll earn 10 UNI$ per S$5 spent, effectively 4 miles per dollar. This makes it perfect for major one-off expenses like paying a wedding banquet, buying a new phone, TV, or furniture. Note that this has a shared spend cap with Petrol spends.
- Youβll also earn 4 miles per dollar on large overseas transactions made in foreign currency, provided the same minimum monthly spend is met. This makes it a great option when traveling or making big-ticket overseas purchases including online, in-app, or contactless FCY spends, such as designer goods or electronics abroad.
Β
Best for Petrol Spends
- You can also earn 4 miles per dollar on petrol spends as long as itβs under MCCs 5541 and 5542 (excluding SPC and Shell Service Stations). Note that this has a shared minimum spend and cap with SGD contactless spends.

Past Buffs/Nerfs:
Buffs:
- From 1 July 2025, you can earn 4 miles per dollar on SimplyGo Transactions (Visa payWave or mobile payment).Β Miles will be awarded in blocks of S$5. But donβt worry if your daily SimplyGo transactions are below S$5. This is because UOB will total all SimplyGo transactions within a calendar monthΒ for miles calculation. Miles will be awarded around the 7th calendar day of the following month.
- Sample Illustration:
- Letβs say you spendΒ S$3.20 per day for 30 days on bus/MRT rides via SimplyGo, thatβs S$96 total spend. Since youβll only earn in blocks of S$5, onlyΒ S$95 will be earning miles. So that will be S$95 x 4 miles per dollar =Β 380 milesΒ earned for the calendar month.
- Sample Illustration:
Nerfs:
- Previously, both categories shared a combined cap of UNI$4,000 per statement period. But from 1 September 2025, the bonus UNI$ cap will be split across two categories:
- Category 1 – Overseas Transactions (including Online): capped at S$1,200 (UNI$2,400)
- Category 2 – Petrol & Contactless: capped at S$1,200 (UNI$2,400)
- Important: The revised caps apply based on your card statement date, not the actual transaction date. For example:
- If your statement is dated 1 August 2025, the old combined cap still applies.
- If your statement is dated 1 September 2025, the new separate caps take effect.
Is it Worth it:
Advantages:
- UNI$ can be pooled with eligible UOB cards
Disadvantages:
- Quite high minimum spend requirement
Transfer Partners:
Transfer Partners | Conversion Ratio |
Krisflyer | 5,000:10,000 |
Cathay Pacific Asia Miles | 5,000:10,000 |
Air Asia A Rewards | 2,500:4,500 |
Frequently Asked Questions:
- When are UNI$ credited to my account
- The base points will be credited when the transaction posts, while the bonus points will be credited in the following statement period
- Do my points pool
- yes, it pools across UOB cards
- When will the UNI$ expire
- UNI$ are valid for 2 years, starting from the end of the quarter in which they were earned.
Final Thoughts:
The UOB Visa Signature Card is a strong option for savvy spenders who frequently make large purchases or travel overseas. While the S$1,000 minimum monthly spend may be steep for some, those who can consistently hit this threshold will find great value especially for big-ticket spenders who value miles.
