Starting 1 June 2025, massive changes will be applied on UOB Krisflyer card, particularly affecting the accelerated earn rate and the minimum spending requirement.
Currently, you can earn 3 miles per dollar on Kris+ and SIA related spends (Singapore Airlines, Scoot, and KrisShop) with no minimum spend and no cap
You can also earn up to 3 miles per dollar on specific categories such as dining, online shopping, online travel, and transport when you spend at least S$800 on SIA-related purchases within your card membership year. For other spends, you can earn 1.2 miles per dollar.
This is the current earn rate:
Category | Minimum Spend | Earn Rate |
Kris+ & SIA-related (Singapore Airlines, Scoot, and KrisShop) | No Minimum Spend | 3 miles per dollar |
Dining & Food Delivery, Online Shopping, Online Travel, and Transport | S$800 on SIA-related transactions in a card membership year | 3 miles per dollar (1.2 miles per dollar base rate + 1.8 miles per dollar accelerated miles) |
All other spends | No Minimum Spend | 1.2 miles per dollar |
What are Accelerated Miles?
- This refers to the bonus miles (1.8 miles per dollar) unlocked when you spend a minimum S$800 on SIA-related spends annually which you earn on specific spending categories, over and above the base earn rate. Currently, these are the eligible categories:
- Dining & Food Delivery
- Online Shopping
- Online Travel
- Transport
- These accelerated miles will be credited to your account two months after the end of your card membership year, should you fulfill the annual minimum spend criteria. On the other hand, base miles are credited by the end of each calendar month.
What will be Changing after 1 June 2025?
1. Accelerated Rate will decrease from 1.8 miles per dollar to 1.2 miles per dollar
- The earn rate for the accelerated categories (Dining, Online Shopping, Online Travel, and Transport) will decrease from 3 miles per dollar to 2.4 miles per dollar. This means you’ll earn a base rate of 1.2 miles per dollar plus a bonus of only 1.2 miles per dollar.
- These are the eligible transactions:
Categories | MCCs | Examples |
Dining & Online Food Delivery | 5812, 5813, 5814 | Crystal Jade, Imperial Treasure, Paradise Dynasty, Brewerkz, Harry’s, Burger King, KFC, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Deliveroo, Food Panda and GrabFood |

Do note that Kris+ & SIA-related spends’ earn rate will not change, it will still earn the uncapped 3 miles per dollar
2. Minimum Spend increases from S$800 to S$1,000
- Starting from card membership years ending November 2025 onwards, the minimum annual spend on SIA-related transactions to unlock accelerated miles will increase from S$800 to S$1,000. If your card membership year ends before November 2025, the current S$800 requirement still applies.
To clarify: card membership years are tracked on an annual basis. It doesn’t matter when you first got the card (e.g. 2023)—what matters is the end date of your current membership year.
Example:
If you’ve held the UOB KrisFlyer Card since April 2024, your:
- Year 1 runs from April 2024 to March 2025 — S$800 requirement still applies.
- Year 2 runs from April 2025 to March 2026 — new S$1,000 requirement applies.
If you spend S$800 on SIA in Year 2, you’ll need to either:
- Top up S$200 to reach S$1,000 and qualify for accelerated miles, or
- Miss out on the accelerated miles benefit.
Note: your accelerated miles for Year 1 remain unaffected.
3. New! Earn an uncapped 3 miles per dollar on Pelago
- Spending directly on the Pelago website will now earn 3 mpd. Previously, only Pelago transactions via Kris+ earned this higher rate.
Important note: Kris+ and Pelago spend do not count towards the minimum SIA Group spend required for accelerated miles.
Summary of Changes:
Category | Minimum Spend | Earn Rate (Before 1 June 2025) | Earn Rate (After 1 June 2025) |
Kris+ & SIA-related | None | 3 miles per dollar | 3 miles per dollar (unchanged) |
Dining & Food Delivery, Online Shopping, Online Travel, Transport | S$800 to S$1,000 | 3 miles per dollar | 2.4 miles per dollar |
Pelago (Direct Website) | None | 1.2 miles per dollar | 3 miles per dollar |
All other spends | None | 1.2 miles per dollar | 1.2 miles per dollar (unchanged) |
Is It Still Worth It To Use?
This card earns 3 miles per dollar on selected categories like Kris+, SIA-related spend, and Pelago. For all other spend, it earns 2.4 miles per dollar, which still makes it the highest unlimited miles-earning credit card in the market.
In comparison, other 4 mpd cards all come with monthly spend caps, which can be limiting if you regularly spend over S$1,000–S$2,000.
If you’re willing to put in some effort, you can mix and match multiple miles cards—like I do—to optimise your miles earning.
Personal tip:
I’ve found this card especially useful when booking Scoot flights—you get priority boarding (Board Me First), complimentary seat selection, and a free 5kg baggage upgrade (with a minimum purchase of 20kg). I’ve also redeemed the S$15 Grab ride coupon to the airport—it’s a nice extra perk that you should take advantage of to draw value out of the card.
Conclusion:
UOB Krisflyer cardholders should note key changes taking effect on June 1, 2025: a decrease in the accelerated earn rate for dining, online shopping, online travel, and transport from 3 to 2.4 miles per dollar, and an increase in the minimum annual SIA-related spend to unlock these rates from S$800 to S$1,000. While Kris+ and SIA-related spending will still earn 3 miles per dollar, direct Pelago website spending will newly offer the same enhanced rate.
